Costa Favolosa Delivered In
Venice
Costa Favolosa, the new flagship of the
Costa Cruises fleet, has been
delivered at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Venice, Italy. The total cost of the new build
is approximately 510 million euros. The 114,500-ton Costa Favolosa is the
largest ship to fly the Italian flag.
“For
us, the delivery of the Costa Favolosa is a twofold source of pride,” said Pier
Luigi Foschi, Chairman and CEO of
Costa Crociere S.p.A. “She’s a wonderful ship, a real ‘contemporary enchanted
castle’ with incredible technological features where our guests will experience a
‘fairy-tale holiday.’ But it also confirms the soundness of our company.”
Costa
Favolosa is the next to last of nine new ships that Costa Cruises ordered from Fincantieri. The next ship
to enter service will be Costa Fascinosa, also under construction at Marghera,
to be delivered in spring 2012.
With
spacious outdoor areas, avant-garde technology, impeccable service and the “modern wonders” of design
and art, the 3,800-passenger Costa Favolosa is a “modern castle” where guests can
experience a “dream” vacation. The ship’s innovative features include six new suites with
veranda and private Jacuzzi, a new entertainment area for teenagers and adults with
4-D Cinema, Playstation World and a bar with ice-cream, drinks and popcorn. There
also will be innovations for children, such as a new outdoor Acqua Park, with water
games and a pirate galleon.
For
more than 60 years Costa Cruises’ ships have sailed worldwide, offering the
best in Italian style, hospitality
and cuisine, while providing holidays focused on fun and relaxation. The line’s 15
ships visit 250 destinations throughout the Mediterranean, northern Europe, the
Baltic, Caribbean, South America, United Arab Emirates, Far East and Indian Ocean.
